Bluesnarfing
Bluesnarfing is the process of unauthorized access of information from the Bluetooth enabled devices ( mobile phones, laptop computer, PDA etc.) using Bluetooth Network.
The unauthorized access of information can be the getting of contact list, calendar, emails, text messages etc. and can also be the possibility of access pictures and private video.
Bluesnarfing is harmful than Bluejacking because of theft of information of target devices.
Bluejacking
Blue-jacking is the process of sending unsolicited( uninvited) messages over the Bluetooth network which contains Bluetooth enabled devices such as mobile phones, laptop computer, PDA, vCard (for bluedating or bluechating) using the OBEX protocol.
The range of Bluetooth is 10 meter for mobile and can reach upto 100 meter for laptop. The first report of bluejacking taken place for advertising Sony Ericsson by a Malaysian IT consultant. Before only text messages could be sent but today’s phone can send images and sound as well.
Due to increasing availability of Bluetooth enabled devices, it is possible to devices get attack by viruses and can take control over devices using trozan horse program.
